In several Bulgarian cities, not only in Sofia, there are already public transport lines served by electric buses. Тhey will become more and more. Оne of the leaders for the future development in this area is a Bulgarian company that has a serious interest in the electrification and the green public transport in our country.

Avto Engineering Holding Group operates in various fields both in Bulgaria and far beyond its borders. One of its serious interests is electric transport, for which it offers complete solutions. They already won several projects within the programs of Bulgarian municipalities for clean air.

As part of one of these programs "Avto Engineering Holding Group" has already handed over to the Municipality of Vratsa 7 of the 9 new and modern trolleybuses, which will serve the residents and guests of the city. The last two trolleys are expected to arrive this week. At the same time, after winning the public procurement under the project "Modernization of public transport in the municipality of Vratsa, Phase II - purchase of electric buses to service the transport scheme of Vratsa", on June 30 the manager of "Avto Engineering Holding Group" Julian Dimov also signed a contract for the supply of 13 electric buses, as well as the charging stations necessary for their use. The value of the project is BGN 12.727 mln and is implemented within the Operational Program "Environment" 2014-2020 "Avto Engineering Holding Group" will deliver electric buses and charging stations within 330 days. The period also includes the training of drivers, technical staff for service and maintenance, etc.

After the delivery of the 9 trolleybuses and the 13 electric buses, the entire public transport of Vratsa will be renewed and will not emit any harmful emissions. The 14 modern diesel buses, purchased a year ago meeting the Euro 6 standard, which are currently running in the city, will be redirected to the lines serving the surrounding villages, explained the project coordinator from Vratsa Municipality Ralitsa Geshovska.

At the same time, Avto Engineering Holding Group has won another similar public tender - in the municipality of Haskovo, with which it has already signed a contract for the amount of BGN 4.788 mln. "Within this project, the company will supply 5 electric buses, 12-meters long and 5 charging stations for slow charging their batteries at night, as well as another fast one to service electric buses during the day." - says Julian Dimov.
 

In parallel, "Avto Engineering Holding Group" has submitted bids for a number of ongoing competitions in our country, applying for the supply of a total of 200 electric buses. The company has a serious commitment to the green transport in the cities. Its electrification will achieve the goals of cleaner air and protection of the urban environment - on the one hand, as well as the goals set for Bulgaria as an EU member - on the other. The replacement of diesel buses in public transport with electric ones is a real step towards improving the way of life in our country and reducing the emitted harmful emissions, from which both people and nature benefit.

In addition to supplying electric buses and the necessary infrastructure for their use, the company has a technically equipped service point authorized by the manufacturer Golden Dragon with the necessary capacity and staff for comprehensive warranty and post-warranty service of buses and charging stations, including repair of their main units, systems and parts. Regarding the operation of the delivered electric buses in the future, the company can replace the batteries with new ones when their life cycle is over, explains Antoaneta Stoilova, project manager at Avto Engineering Holding Group.

The vehicles and charging stations that Avto Engineering Holding Group supplies and services under the 24-month warranty and beyond are manufactured by the Chinese company Golden Dragon, established on 4 continents. Apart from Bulgaria and China, PIVOT series electric buses also run in Germany, the Netherlands, Israel and Mexico, and other models have been delivered to a total of 120 customers in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. The first electric bus of Golden Dragon was put into operation in 2008, and 4 years later deliveries began outside the Chinese market.

In 2015, the Golden Dragon all-aluminum electric bus, designed jointly with a Dutch company, won the Best Ecological Award at BUSWORLD in Belgium. In 2018, the company began the first tests of an autonomous electric bus, and a year later became the first Chinese manufacturer to successfully pass such tests on a closed track in Israel. In addition, Golden Dragon electric buses have European type approval and have successfully passed tests according to the SORT methodology (Standardized Road Life Cycle Test). These are requirements for the European market that not all Chinese companies are able to meet.
